In the later years when telephone became a part of our life they modified their style of theft by misusing telephones. Through the telephone the thieves made the subscriber to believe that he has become eligible to collect a bonus or prize through his financial dealings and require social security numbers or bank account numbers for the purpose of verifying his identity. If the subscriber responds to this call positively then he will get cheated unknowingly. Sometimes the thief adopts the method of tapping the telephone talks of the concerned subscriber and creates a lot of trouble.

The view that the internet is the only reason to repeat identity theft so frequently is totally absurd. But it is a fact that internet has been helping the identity thieves to complete their task at a very fast rate. They can do this job very easily and safely with out being caught. This plus point has given enough chances to the thieves to escape and thus fascinated more and more people to follow them. Thus, the identity theft has become the highly prevalent crime all over the world. People’s affinity to new life style and the desire to accommodate electronic and internet media to their life has got great influence to perform this crime widely. These facilities have helped the thieves to gather personal information and thereby their identity very easily. The identity thieves become technically more since it is easy for all to upgrade to new trends in electronic communication.

They try to be so efficient in this field and send e-mails to the subscribers without getting caught suspicious. Sometimes the people fall in to this trap and get cheated. Certain thieves who are little more technically advanced spread spy ware to the computers and those who open their systems according to their instructions will be trapped unknowingly. All personal data of the subscriber saved in the computer get transferred through the spy ware to the systems of the thieves. Then the person will be suffering too much which cannot be avoided in any way.

So it is better not to keep data relating to financial matters in the computer system, because this is the medium which provide the identity thieves the information required for their evil act against the public.
